This great idea comes from James at JamesReadsBooks, and I’ve decided to give it a bash. It’s the only way I can think of of getting my TBR down, and already there are a lot of bloggers participating. If you haven’t heard about it, head over to his page, and sign up…if you dare!
The TBR Double Dog Dare
Is your TBR list getting you down? Do you own more books than you can read in one lifetime? Are there so many books on your nightstand that you have no place to set your coffee mug down in the morning?
The TBR Double Dog Dare is here to save the day!
The TBR Double Dog Dare is not a reading challenge; it’s a dare. This means that people who do not participate in reading challenges are allowed to participate.
I’m not challenging you; I’m double-daring you.
All you have to do to win the TBR Double Dog Dare is to read only from your TBR pile between January 1 and April 1. You can still buy books, you just can’t read them until the TBR Double Dog Dare is over. (You can make exceptions for books clubs, arcs, and other things you really want to make exceptions for. The TBR Double Dog Dare is all about having fun. So if you join in for a week or a month, no worries.)
Are you brave enough to take the dare?
Nope! But have fun 🙂

GOT to do something in this house Rebecca; it’s ludicrous…and I do like the way you can suspend it for ARCs etc, which I will of course do for Shallow Waters – if it’s expected ETA is within that period?! It’s things like the Kindle Daily Deal that are my downfall – or books at a similar bargain price…

I’m one of those people who don’t attempt things I know I’m going to fail at so I won’t be joining in but I will cheer you on from the sidelines and hopefully tempt you with plenty of books to buy once it’s all over – good luck 🙂

I’ll need as much luck as I can get! And I’m so crap at waiting to buy books – even if I’ve plenty (which I always do!) when I see a book I want, I want it IMMEDIATELY! 😉

It’s only three months! And you’d still have your ARCs – plus in the case of those doing it, your (massive) current THE pile. And any that come into your possession pre-Hogmanay are counted as in!

No because it would literally kill me having to wait to read. It is a clever idea though.

You get through them at a decent rate at least Christine…this house never seems to be quiet enough for me to properly engross myself in a book (except in the middle of the night!)

I vary. This week, I’m really slow and on day two of the same book. Maybe you need ear plugs to drown out the noise
